The prison ministry exists to minister to men who are in a half-way house and are transitioning back into the community. Our goal is to help provide them with a caring, family community upon release, connect them to potential employment and provide active follow-up to avoid recidivism. Our ministry is affiliated with the Boston Pre-Release center in Dorchester.
Our ministry’s foundation is based on Matthew 25: 36-40 where Christ states:
6 I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ 37 Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? 38 And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? 39 And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ 40 And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers,[a]you did it to me.’
We visit the center every Friday evening and for the past four years have been offering all 4 levels of discipleship classes. Additionally, we pray with the men and establish develop lasting friendships that have endured long-after their release.
For additional information and if you’re interested in volunteering with the program, please contact either Miguel Ramirez or Anthony Price. We are always looking for volunteers. Please note that any volunteer will have to undergo a CORI.
