Award for HERC : Citizens Bank & Mayor’s Office, Name Boston HERC One of Boston’s “Community Gems”

Posted in HERC

Citizen’s Bank and the City of Boston have recognized the Congregación Leon de Judá’s Boston Higher Education Resource Center (HERC) as one of the city’s six Community Gems for 2005. The Boston HERC is the first Latino faith-based organization to be named a Community Gem.

For the second year in a row, the bank and the city have collaborated to honor six non-profit organizations for their work to improve the lives of Boston’s citizens. The six organizations will be honored by a formal dinner on December 3, the proceeds of which will go to benefit the organizations. The organizations (which include YouthBuild Boston, Children Services of Roxbury, and Roxbury Youth Works) are expected to collaborate in the planning of the event; Amy Huff is leading the efforts to acquire sponsoring partners. The event will be covered by Boston’s media and will include the presence of Mayor Menino and Senator Dianne Wilkerson. Last year’s honorees include La Allianza Hispana and the Hispanic Office for Planning and Evaluation (HOPE).

I am so proud of Congregation Lion de Judah. My child has been blessed to be a part of the family in participating in the Let's get Ready SAT Program during summer 2005. This Orgnization is deserving of this accolade and so many more. Congratulations!!!
